Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions I get asked by Coaches:

I know you are a firm believer in having a coaching niche.  What if I just want to go out and just start helping people and don’t want to “box” myself in yet?

I realize that many coaches get into coaching for this specific reason, to help as many people as they can.  Unfortunately, they may not realize that helping everyone and anyone can actually stifle the growth of their business and their clients. When you have a specific coaching niche, you will find you are able to focus on your education, your coaching content and your coaching programs that you can offer.  When you have a clearly defined niche you will be able to market yourself effectively and your clients will be able to look for you rather than you looking for them.  It’s a win-win for you and for them.

What do you think is best way to get your “name” out there?

The best way to get your “name” out there is to know who your “Ideal Client” is and then market directly to them, through SEO, networking, social networking and people you already know.  Too often I see coaches wasting precious time focusing in the wrong places for their clients because they are casting too wide of a net into the marketplace and hoping they catch a fish, rather than catch their “Ideal” fish.

What are the growth markets in coaching?

Let me say that the coaching industry is still growing and will continue due to the quality of coaches and coach education.  I see the growth markets being in Leadership, Education, Wellness and Small Business.  These are growth areas throughout the world so you will always find a market.

You’ve had a lot of experience coaching elite athletes, how did you get into that market?

Let me be clear that I am not an athlete in any capacity.  What I am is a coach who understands the power of the mind to improve performance.  I started coaching Olympic athletes because I had gotten great results with partners and friends of future Olympians.  I call this “sneezing”.  When someone loves your work they will “sneeze” and tell others about you.  Each client is potential for the next level, so treat every client with love and respect.

How did you grow your business and still raise a family?

I have an unbelievably supportive husband who truly believed in me and my business vision.  I believe that time is our most precious resource so I am not out there re-inventing the wheel.  I find out who is getting the results I want to get in my life and my business and then I model them.  My children have seen their parents continually grow and evolve which I think is a great lesson for life.  We are living an amazing life!  That is a great gift!
