1. Eliminate negativity – Remember your mind does not process negatives. So let go of self- talk that doesn’t serve you, like “It’ll take a long time to grow my business!” or “What if I don’t have what it really takes to serve my client?”

The “What-if’s” you say to yourself are holding you back. Instead focus on the “Why” you are building your business.

Have gratitude for each client, each connection and each learning you gain when building your business. One day, these experiences will pay themselves forward in an abundance of ways you may not see right now.

And remember, when you are communicating with other people, your unconscious mind thinks you are communicating with you! Always “Say It the Way You Want It!” and speak positively and with positive intention!

2. Get Clear On Your Dreams – Create a Vision Board or a Dream Book that you see everyday. Collect photos of dream homes, holidays, and experiences that you want to have in your life in the next 1-3 years. Make sure you have loved ones in the middle of the picture. Add positive affirmations and words that inspire you!

3. Surround yourself ONLY with supportive people – The quality of your life, your health and your happiness is a direct reflection of the quality of the people in your life. Make sure you surround yourself with friends, colleagues and partners who support you 100%.

4. Decide, believe, and trust the random – Yes, this is the Law of Attraction in action. It’s also Quantum Physics. Your decisiveness, follow-through and open mind to the experiences, the people and the opportunities that come your way there to assist your growth and develop the muscles you need to hold up and hold onto your dreams.

5. Take MASSIVE ACTION on opportunities when they appear – Action involves risk. It may even be uncomfortable or unfamiliar. Just know that without action there is no growth. Embrace the unknown and keep moving forward with persistence and determination every day, every moment to achieve your dreams.

To your success!

Sometimes, instead of having a great coaching experience, it can be frustrating and slow to get started with a new client simply because they were not in the right place to begin with: you as the coach are ready to go full steam ahead while your client hasn’t even shown up at the starting line yet.

So how do you make sure your clients are ready to work when you get started?

Ask Initial Questions and Focus your Clients

When the prospective client contacts you make sure to ask the following questions – that way you ascertain where they are at and make sure that they are focused, or are at least starting to get focused on a specific coaching outcome.

What are you looking to get from coaching with me?

What have you done about your problem/challenge and what results did you get?

What are you prepared to do to overcome this problem/challenge?

What is happening that would cause you to change or take action right now?

What is your desired outcome for coaching?

How specifically will you know when you have achieved this outcome?

By focusing your clients early on their expected coaching outcomes you help them get great results quickly, which leads to excellent testimonials and more clients!

Every relationship has a beginning, a middle and an end.

How we begin the relationship will set up the conditions, the boundaries and the expectations for the quality of the experience together.

When beginning any coaching relationship or business relationship, start with the end in mind, rather than what the relationship will give you right now.

Here are some great questions to ask yourself before you embark on a new beginning:

What value can I bring to this person/this business?

How will this relationship allow me to grow?

What skills/attributes/qualities does this person/this business have that I can add value to and what can they teach me?

How will this relationship contribute to growing other relationships/connections?

What would be the ideal outcome from this relationship?

Notice, that none of these questions is about maintaining certainty/safety, instead they are about growth and contribution.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you.

To your success!

I get asked the following questions all the time:

“Alice, how do you know what to charge?”

“When do you know it is time to raise your fees?”

“How do you package your programmes?”

“Who will pay that much for coaching?”

“Where do you find clients that will pay for your programmes?”

All the questions above can never be answered until you resolve and get clear on the only question that really matters. No, it’s not what the market can afford. No, it’s not having the right networks. No, it’s not having every credential and degree behind your name.

The question …. drum roll please … ask yourself truthfully: “What am I worth?”

Now the answer cannot be “I don’t know” or “I’m priceless”. This question is about being truly honest with yourself about what your believe your true value is worth.

How do you find this out really easily? Ask yourself the following questions:

What is the most I have ever earned in one day? In one hour?

What is the most my parents earned?

What is the average income of my friends?

Do I save money easily?

Do I spend money easily?

What do I believe is truly important about money & wealth?

The answer to these questions will give you incredible insights into your beliefs about what you are worth. Remember, money is energy. Are you stopping the flow of receiving money by not giving amazing value or are you giving amazing value and not receiving money in return? The answer and the solution are within you.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you.

To your success!

I’m asked by coaches and clients on a daily basis how did I get so good at coaching and how I built my business. Well, I could say “practice, practice, practice”, but that would be missing the underlying truth behind my success.

The truth is… I always had a mentor or a trusted advisor who had already been the road I was about to go down. In fact, they were no longer on a road they were on the superhighway!

I believe that time is our most precious resource and we must use it wisely otherwise it will run out before we have done what we are here to do. For me, it is to serve and add value to people’s lives by sharing experiences, knowledge and strategies for living life to the fullest.

When I look for a mentor I want to make sure they are “walking their talk”; they are constantly growing; and they are consistently implementing new strategies to move their lives to the next level. These are the mentors who are inspirational to me and bring out the infinite possibilities of for an amazing life.

So, who are your mentors? I hope for you they are in your close proximity and that you can ask them questions and seek guidance when you need them. I hope they make you accountable for your actions and see your true potential and then give you proven strategies and tools to get you on your super highway!

To your success!

I just read a good article in the New York Times about recent studies providing additional evidence for how your thoughts and your focus physically change your brain.

Researchers from Harvard Medical School took before and after M.R.I. brain scans of a group of people going through an 8 week meditation regime (sounds worse than it is: they only mediated for 30 minutes a day and clearly showed an increase of gray matter in the hippocampus, an area important for learning and memory and a decrease of the same in the amygdala, a region connected to anxiety and stress.

So if focusing your mind on the here and now for 30 minutes a day has measurable positive impacts on your brain what are those M.R.I. images going to look like after a steady diet of TV and sensationalist news, consumed by the majority of people every single day? Not a pretty picture, isn’t it!?

As always, focus on what you want, not what you don’t want, and feed your mind a healthy diet of well chosen and nourishing thoughts!

To your success!

Here’s the link to the whole article:

One of the models in coaching is the BE DO HAVE model. This is one of my favourites because you can use it in a variety of ways.

The basic premise is this: in order to HAVE what you want in your life, who do you need to BE and thus what do you need to DO to get there.

So, the first step to getting any results in your life is to become clear on your desired outcomes or goals = your HAVE.

What I see many coaches doing with their clients is focusing on changing the clients “Being”. This is all well and good however one of the most effective ways to accelerate and activate change is to have them get moving and start DOING The DOING to get their goals.

Give yourself and your clients a “task” to do that will move them forward, ex. declutter and throw out the old in their office, wardrobe and kitchen. How can you focus on the future when the past is all around you?

This way your clients will build muscle and develop strategies that will support achieving and maintaining their goals.

The simple action of TAKING ACTION is the key. What do you need to DO TODAY to get your outcomes?

Get moving!

50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive, written by Noah Goldstein, Steve Martin (not the comedian!) and Robert Cialdini, is an excellent overview of the science of persuasion and how it’s used in marketing to persuade potential customers to commit and become buyers.

Well written and an easy read (many smallish chapters) it covers topics such as how inconveniencing your audience can increase your persuasiveness and when offering people more makes them want less (the latter particularly interesting for anyone creating their own products).

The book strongly builds on Cialdini’s six universal principles of social influence:

Reciprocation – we feel obliged to return favours performed for us

Authority – people look to experts to show them the way

Commitment/consistency – we want to act consistently with our commitments, i.e. what we decided earlier, and values

Scarcity – the less something is available the more we want it

Liking – the more we like people the more we want to say yes to them

Social proof – we look to what others do to guide our behaviour

As human beings we learn every movement, every belief, every attitude and every strategy by modelling someone else. From our first steps and our first words, the imprinting begins. To create your life the way you imagine it to be, is completely up to you. Be clear on who you are modelling and why.

Why aren’t more people happy and fulfilled with their life? Why are so few people living a life where they feel on purpose and filled with passion, love and curiosity? The answer is simple. They are following the strategies, beliefs, attitudes and values of those that are doing the exact same thing. They are modelling average, unhappiness, mediocrity and lack.

As a classical singer/Opera singer, I was trained purely by modelling excellence. Every actor, dancer, singer has been trained through modelling. There were no textbooks.

I stood like my teacher. I created sounds like my teacher, I became my teacher. Next, I found great singers to model. I stood like them. I moved my body like them. I created sounds/tones like them. I became them. Then…I found another great singer and I did exactly the same thing. The result…I became a professional singer who had the privilege to sing all around the world doing what I was passionate about.

So how do you create the life you imagine immediately? Change right now who are you modelling, if you are not getting the results you want in your life.

Here are the First 5 Steps:

1. Find who is getting the results you want in an specific area of your life. (Health & Vitality, Love & Passion, Wealth & Abundance, Love & Connection, Wisdom & Guidance).

2. Meet with them face to face; buy 4-6 books about them; and/or watch them being interviewed.

3. Discover what is important to them in the area you want to improve (their values). Discover how they get the results they get (their strategies). Discover how they feel about getting results in that area (their attitudes).

4. Be like a child – be curious and playful.

5. Take on the exact physiology of your new model – their stance, their focus, their facial expressions, etc. Act as if you are them. Notice what changes occur in you.

“When I did my first audition for my first television job, I was such a nervous wreck, I had no idea what to do or say. And I thought in my head that maybe I’ll just pretend I’m Barbara Walters. I will sit like Barbara and hold my head like Barbara. So, I crossed my legs at the ankles, I put my little finger under my chin, I leaned across the desk, and I pretended to be Barbara Walters.” Oprah Winfrey

Go out and become the you, you want to be. Model excellence. It is all around you!

To your success!

Each season in nature comes and goes, year after year. You rug up in winter and watch the leaves fall from the trees; the air gets brisk and smells of fireplaces burning. Spring arrives and the baby ducklings are hatched and there are buds appearing on the trees. Summer comes with warmth, sunshine and holidays. Autumn soon arrives where the crops are harvested and colours of nature are warm and relaxing. Round and round the seasons go, every 90 days or so, yet what about us?

As coaches and consultants, it is important to realize which season your client is in. Which season a business is in? When you know this it gives you clarity on what steps to takes to move your client forward and what steps never to take that will cause frustration, confusion and overwhelm.

Have a look at this basic, yet very clear symbol of the seasons in a business. There is a time for everything. You cannot reap financial gain until you have sewn the seeds first. Nor can you attend trainings and dedicate yourself year round to learning new things without implementation of what you have learnt. It is up to you as a coach to realize where your client is and which path they need to follow.

Now is the time for you and your clients to focus on creating your Best Year Yet!

To your Success!
